Mission Statement

Driven by our building or seen or blurbs in the paper? Wondering who we are? Read on, friend.

Stapleton Church is a community of spiritual seekers dedicated to following Christ on the path of compassion, wisdom and grace.

We are dedicated to transforming lives by educating, equiping and inspiring people to transcend race, culture, gender and class so that we can faithfully stand together in opposition to the injustices of this world and celebrate the gifts of God. We strive to lovingly minister within our community, and the larger world, to enrich the lives of all of God’s children and creation. Our faith life is open to all regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, socioeconomic status, and physical, mental, emotional ability or disability.

Let the transformation begin.

Coffee Klatch

Today I took me and myself on the road and did some sermon prep at the Starbucks down the street. Most of you have probably done something like that--taken a book or some work to sit in their comfortable chairs and sip a cuppa.

I find though, that I'm not always very "productive" when I go . . . That said, lots of ministry does happen. Have you chatted with the barista whose girlfriend is moving across the country? What about the businessman that's having a stressful day? And then there's the new mom looking tired and lonely.

Despite the fact that I'm a fairly shy introvert, I've had the feeling of being drawn to talk to someone that I don't know since I was a teenager. I can't explain it; but I usually realize at some point that I'm not really doing much of the talking. I'm listening.

Can you identify with this? In a few weeks we are going to be commissioning two new Stephen's Leaders at our worship service. These two will be starting a new ministry at Stapleton Church and will be looking for people interested in caring for another person walking through a tough time. If you are interested in this, e-mail me and I'll get you connected with an application and interview time.

'Til then, keep your eyes open to the ways that you are called to minister to the people that cross your path.

Peace.
